Within our scope, we were tasked with the design and installation of:
- A compliant Fire Hydrant system in accordance with AS2419-2005
- Fire Pumps compliant with AS2941-2013
- Fire Hose Reel system in accordance with AS2441-2005
- A Fire System Electrical Supply
The new installed hydrant system is an above-ground system installed to provide access to the water supply for the purpose of fighting fires. The hydrants are located externally across the school grounds.
Fire Hose reels were an active part of the previously inadequate fire system, though these fire hose reels are now connected as required to the newly Boosted fire system underground mains. There are 3 x inground isolation valves specific to the supply of water to these existing hose reels.
The water supply is fed via a Water Corporation town’s main
and the quantity for the hydrants is fed from a new boosted system connected to the new installed fire pump set.
The tanks are two above ground tanks located within a newly constructed compound.
The pumps comprise of 1 x electric duty pump and 1 x diesel standby pump with an electric jacking pump. The pump set is inclusive of a Class 1 sound attenuation.
There is a new fire services booster cabinet installed which is located at the entry into the school car park directly off Erindale Road. This cabinet is for DFES use only.
The dry fire works including programming the pump monitoring to the existing site security control panel. Strobe units have been installed to indicate the pump run. These are located external to the pump room.
