Stage 1 2013, Stage 2 2015

Ray Village Aged Care

The Ray Village Aged Care Facility located in Busselton has operated since 1999. Since the initial build, the facility has undergone further development to accommodate independent living units, nursing home facilities, a dementia unit and residential care support facilities

Within our scope we were initially awarded the contract to install a fully compliant Automatic Sprinkler System (Residential classification) to the existing aged care facility. Firesafe were then further awarded the contract to install a fully compliant Automatic sprinkler system to Stage 2 of the facility including:

  • A fully compliant combined Fire Sprinkler system to AS2118.4

The system installed in Stage 1 had one installation control valve which fed both stage 1 and 2 occupancies. These were fed via a single flow switch which sends a signal to the FIP in the area the suspected fire is in.

Water to the facility for fire-fighting purposes is provided by connection to the underground services
supply main located in the Rosa Brook existing wing.

Throughout the project we overcame limited challenges:

  • Being a regional project, we had to ensure precise project programming and logistical management was followed to ensure materials were delivered to site to suit the project timelines and to avoid installation disruption.
  • To ensure both stages of the project were completed within the given project schedules we continually worked with the client by way of open communication. We also involved all parties when it came to planning critical stages of installation to ensure continuity of existing services to the facility.
