Opal Aged Care Facility

Opal Aged Care facility is located in the regional hub of the mid-west town of Geraldton and provides residental care, respite and palliative care to its residents. The centre was originally built as a single storey building, with the recent redevelopment works carried out to include another level to the building

Within our scope Firesafe were awarded the contract to design and install a fully compliant Automatic Sprinkler System to the existing building plus installation of a sprinkler system to the new building of the aged care facility including:

  • A fully compliant Fire Sprinkler system to AS2118.1
  • Fire Pump Set in accordance with AS2941
  • Fire Water Storage Tanks in accordance with AS2301
  • Portable Fire Extinguishers in accordance with AS2444

Throughout the project we overcame limited challenges:

  • Being a regional project, we had to ensure precise project programming and logistical management was followed to ensure materials were delivered to site to suit the project timelines and to avoid installation disruption.
  • To ensure the project was completed within the given project schedules we continually worked with the client to ensure we always had open communication.
  • We also involved all parties when it came to planning the critical stages of the installation to ensure the existing services were fully functional. We had to be mindful at all times that the facility was an aged care building and it was of upmost importance that there was minimal disruption the residents.
