Montgomery House Aged Care

Montgomery House located in Mount Claremont is a 113 year old heritage listed building which was acquired by Aegis in 2012. The building has undergone a complete renovation to transform it into a unique and exclusive aged care facility.Firesafe were awarded the contract to install the Fire Sprinkler system to the building to make it compliant with AS2118-Part 4-2012.

  • Design, supply and installation of a fire sprinkler system throughout the Lower Ground Floors of the Administration Block and Montgomery Hall.
  • Design, supply and installation of a fire sprinkler system throughout the Ground floor of the Administration Block, Covered Way Area, Store Block Wing and Montgomery Hall.
  • Design, supply and installation of a fire sprinkler system throughout the Ground and First floors of the North Block, South Block, Kitchen Block and New Wing.
  • Design, Supply and Installation of each individual Control Valve Set for the Sprinkler Systems.

Throughout the project we overcame limited challenges:

  • With the building being Heritage Listed, the approval process during design was far more attentive than that of other projects, including multiple reviews and alternative designs issued for review.
  • To retain the features of the existing building, each area was meticulously coordinated to ensure all new features, and new services matched to the original arrangement where possible.
  • Each room and area ceiling height was assessed on an individual basis and were either raised or lowered to accommodate the new services.
  • In some cases, false windows were installed making the existing windows inoperable whilst retaining their original appearance so as to enable the installation of Sprinkler controlled Fire separation between compartments.
  • Worked in conjunction with the Hydraulics Contractor conducting DFES and Commissioning works to ensure a smooth handover process at completion of the project to the client.
  • We are always mindful that works associated with these upgrades are conducted within fully functioning aged care facilities, there Firesafe at all times work closely with other contractors, and staff to consider the safety of the residents at all times.
