CTI Logistics Warehouse

CTI Logistics is a new regional transport depot located at Lakes Road in Hazelmere consisting of 2 x Warehouses, Breezeway, 2 Story Office and Amenities Areas. There are 2 x buildings connected by a breezeway consisting of 25,000 sqm in buildings, both of which will be utilised as a depot to distribute products to clients.

Within our scope, we were tasked with the design and installation of:

  • A compliant Fire Sprinkler system in accordance with AS2118.1- 2017
  • A compliant Fire Hydrant system in accordance with AS2419.1
  • Fire Hose Reels in accordance with AS2441
  • Fire Pumps in accordance with AS2941-2017
  • Fire Water Storage Tanks in accordance with AS2304-2011
  • Fire Extinguishers in accordance with AS2444

A ESFR K17 High Hazard sprinkler system has been installed throughout the warehouse (Depot 1 & 2 and Breezeway). The office installation classification is EC11 K16 and the Canopies and Awnings are Ordinary Hazard II – K8. These systems are quick responding high volume that provide exception protection for high piled storage occupancies. ESFR sprinkler heads sense a fire and begin spraying water quicker than standard response sprinkler heads.

The water supply for the system is provided by 2 x 250Kl full capacity water storage tanks with an automatic infill provided from a Water Corporation connection and Double Check Valve arrangement located in front of the pump room.

Sprinkler Control Valves have been installed external and in front of the Depot 1 & Depot 2

The Wet Fire System is interfaced with the Fire Indicator Panel located in the main offices on the Ground Floor. Operation of any sprinkler head will transmit a signal to the panel via a pressure switch, activating the Building Occupant Warning system and will transmit a signal to the Fire Brigade Monitoring Authority.

Fire Hydrants have been installed external to the Depot 1 and Depot 2 and Breezeway as well as to the interior and breezeway of the buildings.

There are also feed hydrants in the Fire Services Booster Cabinet for DFES use. Fire Hose Reels have also been installed throughout the site. The fire pump set provided for the project comprise a combination of electric and diesel pumps complete with a jacking pump and supplies the combined fire sprinkler, fire hydrant and fire hose reel systems. The pump room is located at the entrance to the site on Lakes Road.

This Projects timeline was extremely tight with a 4-month build. This put pressure on the design team to provide a compliant design in a shorth space of time. Fabrication had to commence within 1 week of the approved design to meet program requirements.

The pump supplier agreed to provide the packaged fire booster pumpsets and fire water storage tanks within 6 weeks of the placement of the order which they met. Once the builder had completed the concrete bases for the pump room and fire water storage tanks their install commenced and were completed within the nominated time frame.

Site staff were allocated within 1 week of the first installation been fabricated and delivered to site. The remaining 3 installations were delivered to site on a 1 to 2 week turn around to meet the construction program.

The project was commissioned and handed over to the client in the final week of the scheduled handover.
